bioLNG with MyLNG Card - Cryogas has started liquefied biomethane refuelling

16.03.2023

bioLNG as a fuel in heavy transport is an effective reduction of CO2 and NOx emissions. Thanks to bioLNG already existing fleets of LNG trucks are allowed to significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Aware to such a potential, Cryogas as the first in Poland start to offer bioLNG at selected LNG stations. The first LNG powered trucks are already refuelling with bioLNG and are executing urban distribution in Warsaw.

bioLNG expanded the offer of the Cryogas LNG station in Warsaw in February 2023. Firstly were carried operational tests, where bioLNG was refuelled into trucks used for local distribution and semi-trailers for LNG transportation. Currently, access to bioLNG is possible to all customers handling with MyLNG Card. bioLNG presence is guaranteed by the dedicated sustainable certificate, indicating the carbon footprint of the fuel (expressed in CO2eq/MJ) and biomethane source. In mid-2023, Cryogas plans to launch bioLNG refuelling at all stations with MyLNG Card access. At two stations, it will also be possible to refuel with bioCNG. All customers interested in refuelling bioLNG and bioCNG are welcome to contact Cryogas.

Liquefied biogas - convenient renewable fuel for CRT

bioLNG – liquefied biomethane – is methane produced in agricultural biogas plants. It is produced in the process of anaerobic fermentation of animal excrement or plant waste. The biogas generated in this way is purified of carbon dioxide and water vapor to finally achieve the parameters of biomethane. Biomethane properties are practically identical to those for natural gas. Thanks to this, the handling of bioLNG is widely known, and the operation of bioLNG refuelling stations or vehicles is no different to regular LNG. Trucks powered with bioLNG have the same high operating parameters as when powered by natural gas.

bioLNG – zero CO2 emissions in transport becomes a reality

Methane emission from organic waste is a serious problem in the era of increasing greenhouse effect. This challenge is recognized by the European Union, which promotes the capture, purification and use of biomethane in the economy. The use of bioLNG allows companies to completely eliminate CO2 emissions (measured with the well-to-wheel method). The most promising are here heavy road transport and maritime transport. The use of bioLNG fits perfectly into the philosophy of the circular economy. bioLNG comes from local biogas plants, from renewable substrates, generated no more than 100 kilometres from the place of processing into biogas. Biomethane has been included as one of the key tools for the implementation of the ambitious climate policy of the European Union, included in the Fit for 55 Strategy and in the RED II Directive (promoting the use of renewable energy). Compliance of bioLNG to above climate goals is ensured each time by the sustainable certificate. This document indicates the carbon footprint (in grams of CO2eq/MJ), the input used for bioLNG generation and the bioLNG production method.
